Full-time

The Center for the Vulnerable Child (CVC) at Children's Hospital and Research Center Oakland is seeking a master's level mental health worker-clinical social worker or marriage and family therapist-for the CATS Project (Child Assessment and Transitional Services) an innovative collaboration with Alameda County Social Services Agency's Department of Children and Family Services.

The CATS Project provides in-home services to children and youth up to 18 years of age who are living with their parents under Family Maintenance supervision. We provide a range of mental health services tailored to each family's unique situation, including individual and family therapy and psychological assessment.

We are committed to empowering youth and their families, and place the highest value on providing services that respect the cultural backgrounds of our clients and that are realistically grounded in their day-to-day lives and in the communities in which they live.

Responsibilities

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the mental health worker will carry an individual caseload of clients referred by the Department of Children and Family Services.

The clinician will be responsible for conducting an initial assessment of individual and family strengths and needs, and, in consultation with the CATS team, designing and implementing a comprehensive treatment plan.

This treatment plan will center on direct mental health services, including individual and family therapy, and will include case management services as needed to support the family and the treatment.

This may include coordination with schools and early intervention programs, medical services, the Department of Children and Family Services, and other involved agencies. The clinician will participate in weekly team meetings and other agency-wide activities.

Administrative responsibilities will include developing and maintaining client records and complying with billing procedures.

Requirements:

Master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, or related field

Minimum of two years supervised clinical experience in child, adolescent, and family therapy with at-risk populations

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals and groups from varying educational, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds

Ability to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team

Ability to initiate projects and work autonomously

Ability to manage a caseload in a timely and effective manner

We offer highly competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits and a wonderful environment for our employees. For a complete job description or to apply online.
