Position Purpose To conduct research on Kaposi’s sarcoma associated herpesvirus

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Perform molecular biology assays including preparation DNA, RNA, cloning, real- time-PCR, expression and purification of recombinant proteins, plasmids, Western blots, ELISA, immunofluorescence microscopy, purification of antibodies, preparation of radioactively labeled virus and virus binding assays.
* Carry out experiments in cell and molecular biology, maintain mammalian and bacterial cell cultures, maintain virus infected cell cultures, prepare virus stocks, prepare and assist in biological studies of viruses.
* Order and maintain laboratory supplies.
* Write and maintain laboratory work notebooks.
* Data analysis and reporting.
* Assist in the management of the laboratory, including training new personnel
* Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* BA/BS in Biological Sciences with 0-2 years of laboratory experience.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written) required.
* Knowledge about computer applications used (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
* Ability to work/interact with diverse populations.
* Must have the mental and physical capability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Work is of a minimal physical demand in a laboratory setting with duties being performed while sitting, standing, or occasionally stooping with some movement and lifting of boxes with consumables
