Position Seeking: PHP/MySQL Developer

Job Title:
Web Application Guru, Code Ninja, Db Master (there are no real employee job titles at Room 214)

Job Description
Support open source initiatives for PostZinger.com, including custom blog/podcast/RSS software development for Room 214 clients. Serve as a key member (with ownership opportunity) in RSSready, Room 214’s social media product and application development company.

Primary Functions:
§ Work directly with company owners to produce great web-based software.
§ Work with front-end developer (HTML/CSS/Javascript) to deliver intuitive usability.
§ Own, extend and improve code architecture and database schema as needed.
§ Exercise your creativity to get things done

Requirements:
§ 4 years or more developing in PHP and MySQL.
§ Expertise in configuring and optimizing MySQL databases and queries.
§ You are a self-starter who can take direction, but more importantly figures out what to do without being told
§ Proficiency using Subversion (SVN) and/or Git
§ Computer Science background
§ Solid experience with object-oriented programming
§ An excellent understanding of how code/databases must scale on the web
§ A good understanding of social media

Bonus Points for:
§ Sysadmin/Ops skills.
§ Proficiency in AJAX and JavaScript.
§ Expertise with parsing and publishing RSS feeds
§ Working in an open environment where country music is never played
§ Experience in other programming languages (Python/Ruby)
